Storing Vegetables

Our linen-cotton blend is the perfect material for storing potatoes and root vegetables because its natural breathability allows just the right amount of air circulation to prevent moisture buildup, stopping sprouting, softening, and mold that cause most vegetable waste.

Unlike plastic bags that trap humidity and speed up spoilage, linen-cotton keeps potatoes firm and fresh for weeks—or even months—cutting household food waste while completely replacing plastic produce bags if you take the to the store.

Product Highlights

Product Info

To use your linen-cotton potato bag, simply fill it with clean, dry potatoes or other root vegetables (no need to wash them first), pull the drawstring loosely closed, and store in a cool (7–10°C), dark, well-ventilated spot like a pantry shelf, cupboard, or basement—never in the fridge.

Keep different vegetables in separate bags (one for potatoes, one for onions, one for garlic) because they release different gases and moisture levels; mixing them speeds up sprouting and spoilage. This breathable fabric lets excess humidity escape while blocking light, dramatically slowing sprouting and extending shelf life up to 4–6 times longer than plastic, so you throw away far fewer vegetables and never need another plastic produce bag again.

User Guide

Wash your bag regularly to keep it fresh and hygienic. Machine wash at 30°C or below, or hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid hot water as it may cause the natural fibres to shrink. Air dry the bag completely before storing or reusing to prevent mildew, hanging it in a well-ventilated area works best. For quick cleaning between washes, simply shake out crumbs and turn the bag inside out to air.

When your bag has served its purpose, both the linen and cotton components are fully biodegradable and can be added to your home compost bin where they'll naturally decompose. Remove any metal or plastic components from the drawstring first if present. Alternatively, repurpose the fabric as cleaning cloths, produce bags, or donate to textile recycling programs. The natural plant-based fibers will break down completely, leaving no harmful residue behind.

Linen Cotton Material

Linen-cotton blends combine the best of both worlds: linen (from flax, one of the lowest-impact fibers) and cotton (renewable and biodegradable), creating a durable, breathable fabric that’s naturally eco-friendly. Flax requires minimal water, no irrigation in many regions, and zero pesticides when grown organically, while its byproducts enrich soil.

Cotton, when sustainably sourced, avoids chemical-intensive farming. Both are mechanically gathered with low energy, then spun and woven using traditional, low-carbon method.
